"That's the warmest doctor's office I've ever visited. We felt welcome there. They made us feel like we were apart of their family not just patients. Such a positive environment. The whole office feels so peaceful and clean. The best customer service. Everybody was kind"
Medical dermatology is the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions and hair disorders. Although our practice focuses on aesthetic dermatology, we also offer a select range of medical services. In addition to basic skin care, we offer treatment for conditions such as acne, acne scarring, and hair disorders.
Acne and acne scarring
Acne is a common skin condition, occurring most frequently in teens, but frequently in adults as well. It is caused by excess sebum (skin oil) along with skin flakes and other debris clogging the pores. Overproduction of P. Acnes, a bacteria, occurs inside of the clogged pores, can lead to blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, pimples, or cystic lesions. Acne can be embarrassing, uncomfortable, and severe cases can lead to skin discoloration or scarring without treatment.
Acne is most often treated with topical medication, light therapy, and a customized at-home care regimen. Acne scarring may be improved with treatments such as chemical peeling or microneedling.
Alopecia and hair loss
There are many potential types and causes of hair loss. One of the best-known is male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness, a type of alopecia that is associated with hormones. Another common problem is traction alopecia, which is typically caused by damage associated with hair care and styling techniques. When the hair is pulled too tightly, it can damage the follicles, inhibiting normal growth.
The best treatment for hair disorders will depend on the specific problem. We may use microneedling alone or in combination with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), oral medication, topical remedies such as Minoxidil, or other therapeutic techniques to stimulate hair growth. We will conduct educational seminars to share the various ways that hair loss can be avoided or treated.
We understand that healthy skin is the foundation for beautiful skin. When you visit our office, we will discuss your unique dermatological concerns and challenges, and we will help you develop a personalized at home skin care regimen. Choosing the right product for your skin type and health is important. The wrong product or routine can actually dry out or irritate the skin, as well as exacerbate skin conditions.
